case study
The Challenge
Existing culverts throughout the mine were directing released water through undesirable areas. As water flowed through the existing drainage system, it was washing away riprap and causing ongoing soil erosion.
Rerouting the water would have required removing existing culverts—a costly and disruptive undertaking.
The Solution
ECO used a combination of closed-cell polyurethane foam and Bandit to address both problems.
The foam was used to block the inside of the culvert and redirect the water flow. Bandit was then applied over pea gravel to create a more stable surface and protect the area from further erosion.
The Result
The water was redirected along a more suitable natural path, while the treated surface helped prevent further soil loss and vegetation growth in the problem area.
