case study
The Challenge
A 150-foot concrete box culvert beneath active railway tracks had developed a serious structural problem. A 30-foot section had broken away and settled more than six inches, while stagnant water had collected beneath the culvert.
The challenge was to restore support beneath the damaged section without undertaking a major excavation beneath active rail infrastructure.
The Solution
ECO used Deep FoamJection to stabilize the soil and base beneath the culvert. A 4 lb hydrophobic polyurethane foam was injected beneath the structure, displacing the trapped water and creating a new solid base of support.
The Result
The settled section was lifted and supported from below, helping restore the integrity of the culvert while avoiding a much more disruptive excavation process.
